What is Planned Giving? Connecting donor legacies with your organization's mission

Join Maine Planned Giving Council Board Members Rebecca Lazure of Bates College and Ian Tovell of Habitat for Humanity Bath as they introduce the basics of what planned giving is all about. Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning, and more are all part of the tool box for non profit executives and development staff to include in their quest for the longterm sustainablity of their organization. Learn how the Maine Planned Giving Council can help build the professional skills to accomplish your mission.

This roundtable discussion program is being presented free of charge for all as a partnership between Maine Archives & Museums and the Maine Planned Giving Council, and the information provided will be relevant to all nonprofits (particularly smaller ones!).

This program is free for all, advance registration is required.

MAM Member Meetup & Social at Maine Maritime Museum (30 Jul 2026)

Join MAM and the Maine Maritime Museum for an afternoon of exploration, networking, and fun! Connect with fellow MAM members, museum staff, and colleagues while experiencing one of Maine's amazing cultural institutions.

Choose your own adventure at the museum with a walking tour of the historic Percy & Small Shipyard or join museum staff for an overview of the museum's galleries. Afterward, continue the conversation at the MAM Social at Flight Deck Pizza & Beer Garden, located on the museum grounds overlooking the banks of the Kennebec River.

This is a free event for MAM members, but advance registration is required. Registration closes July 29. As an added benefit, attendees will receive a complimentary 10% discount in the museum store.

Schedule:
4:00 p.m. – Tours begin (please check in at the museum's front desk upon arrival)
5:00–6:30 p.m. – MAM Social at Flight Deck Pizza & Beer Garden

MAM Summer Intern Lightning Round

Join MAM as we showcase the amazing work being done by interns throughout the state this summer. Interns will have an opportunity to give brief presentations on the work they are doing over the summer as they assist in vital work for our member institutions and gain the skills that will help them as they pursue careers in museums and archives after graduation.

This program is free for all, advance registration is required.

Do you have interns at your site? Maine Archives & Museums (MAM) members are encouraged to share this free professional development opportunity with interns at their sites!

The commitment:

Interns will share 5-minute presentations on their summer projects and experiences in a virtual meeting at 12 pm on Tuesday, August 4^th. If they would like to include audio/visual materials, they are welcome to share their screen during the presentation.

There will be an optional short check-in the week before the event so that presenters know what to expect.

The benefits:

This public speaking opportunity is a resume piece and can double as a learning outcome for the summer internship. Interns may also find it useful to have this presentation ready to share with their host site and school. We will be promoting this event to MAM members to join for free, so there will be a virtual audience of fellow interns, MAM members, and potentially future employers.

Join MAM at Seashore Trolley Museum for an afternoon of exploration, networking, and fun! Connect with fellow MAM members, museum staff, and colleagues while experiencing one of Maine's amazing cultural institutions.

You will be treated to a behind the scenes tour of the museum, followed by a trolley ride and an ice cream social (nondairy ice cream is available). Seashore Trolley Museum's Ice Cream Nights benefit area nonprofits and August 5th featured partner is the Brick Store Museum, another proud MAM member!

This is a free event for MAM members, but advance registration is required. Registration closes August 4.
