Presenters:

Gary Friedmann, Gary Friedmann and Associates, Bar Harbor

Kevin Johnson, Penobscot Marine Museum, Searsport

Session 1:  Board Development for Small Non-Profits

Led by fundraising consultant and board development specialist Gary Friedmann, this hands-on workshop will examine the most important aspects of nonprofit leadership and governance, including:

  • the role and responsibilities of the board;
  • qualifications and characteristics of effective board members;
  • how to identify, recruit, orient and assess your board; and
  • strengthening your board.

We will take case studies from participants to complete the morning with a practical problem-solving session.

Session 2:  Digitizing Your Collection

Penobscot Marine Museum's Photo Archivist, Kevin Johnson will demonstrate the digitization of glass plate and film negatives as well as prints using an Epson V750 Pro flat bed scanner and a 35mm digital camera. In addition to basic digital capture, the demonstration will include the various software used in the process as well as methodology for raw file storage and processing. Penobscot Marine Museum photography collections now exceed 140,000 photographic images representing various collections with more than 60,000 images available on its website in their online database.
